Effect of Low Level Laser Therapy on osseointegration of Implant retained Mandibular Overdenture in Controlled Diabetic patients
Abdelrahman Elsaid Abdraboh;
Abstract
Edentulism is the state of being edentulous; without natural teeth. It leads to an acknowledged impairment of oral function with both aesthetic and psychological changes along with many functional problems.
The classical treatment plan for the edentulous patient is complete denture which is inexpensive in comparison with fixed implant-supported prostheses. However, not all complete denture wearers are able to adapt to their dentures, even if the dentures fulfill all conventional prosthodontic criteria.
Oral rehabilitation with implant overdenture (IOD) has become the standard option for the care of edentulous patients; it has been shown to improve the quality of life for edentulous patients.
Nevertheless, there are several obstacles to the implant option for the edentate patient: First, implant treatment is expensive, and edentate patients are often unable or unwilling to pay. Conventional implants (>3.5 mm) may not be the best treatment option is case of narrow alveolar ridge. Small diameter dental implants (commercially known as MEDI implant
