Purification of Industrial Phosphoric Acid by Synergistic Solvent Extraction Technique in One Step as well as Preparation of some Phosphatic Salts and Pure Uranium
Nagwa Ibrahim Eid Falilia;
Abstract
The present thesis is mainly concerned with the purification of industrial phosphoric acid to the food grade quality as well as uranium recovery from the achieved purification process. The input phosphoric acid is obtained from polyserve fertilizer at Abu zaabal, Cairo, Egypt.This acid contains a lot of impurities and a P2O5 content of 43% and uranium 74 ppm, some salts are prepared and their structural composition are elucidated such as pure sodium ammonium phosphate, sodium aluminum phosphate and potassium magnesium phosphate as an added value.
The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter includes the introduction and a literature survey on the various methods used for phosphoric acid purification such as solvent extraction using different solvents (alcohols, ketones, amines, ethers and hydrocarbons), ion exchange, precipitation and electro-deposition methods. This chapter includes also a survey on the methods used for uranium recovery from phosphoric acid. Finally the different techniques used in the preparation of some phosphate salts such as sodium ammonium phosphate, sodium aluminum phosphate and potassium magnesium phosphate are given. This chapter includes also a survey on the methods used for extraction of total rare earths and individual Cerium and lanthanum.
The second chapter is concerned with all chemicals, reagents and stock solutions needed in the present work. Besides, a number of chemical and instrumentation methods of analysis, that were used for the quantitative determination of the major, minor and trace elements components during the present work, thus wet chemical analyses was
