BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF CARBARYL INSECTICIDE IN NUTRITION

Hanan Houssien Osman Ibrahim;

Abstract

The present work was canicd out to study the cfJCcts or cmbm.vl on many organs of the albino rats.
The lollowing points were considered the course of the present work: Clinical symptoms:
The present work showed that, there were marked distention of the

abdomen 111 the first two \veeks. During the remaining weeks the rats were

cachectic.

Effect on body and organs weights:

There were loss of body weight directly proportional to the increase of the dose, in the recovery group, The loss of body weigirt decrease but did not reach to the level of the control group.

Effect on the serum biochemical components:

Serum liver enzymes:

There were significant elevation of serum transaminases activities of ALT , AST and alkaline phosphatase sta11ing from the first two weeks of the experiment onwards to the end of the experiment. The values of the enzyme activities in the recovery group decreased but did not reach to the levels of the normal level.

Serum bilirubin:

Carbaryl treated rats showed significant increase iiJ serum bilirubin levels in comparison to control grolrp. The serum bilirubin level in the
recovery b'Toup decreased but did not reach to the levels of tire nmmal level.

Kidney function tests:

The present study showed that, the serum urea and creatinine were elevated throughout the experiment. Jn recovery the levels of urea and creatinine their levels but did not reach to the normal level.
