Abstract
S 100 B protein is an acidic calcium binding protein that acts intracellula rly a n d extracellul arly, i t acts through interaction with ta rget proteins within cells and causes neuronal growth extracellularly.
lt can be assessed in various biologi cal fluids by a series of unmunoassays.
lt proved to be a helpful marker in diagnosis of brain damage in infants and adul ts and it also helped in detection of the prognosis of brain insults in su ch cases.
