Iron in patients with chronic hepatitis C is now considered one of the most recent advances in medical research studies, proposing it to be a highly significant biologic mediator, modulating many pathophysiological states in patients with chronic hepatitis C progressing to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.
