Mohamed Mansour Soliman Ibrahim;

Abstract

. Survey of pests on cantaloupe plants:

The surveyed pests were the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch. (Tetranychidae), aphids, Aphis gossypii Golv. (Aphididae), thrips, Thrips tabaci Lind. (Thripidae) and whitfly, Bemasia tabaci Genn. (Aleyrodidae).
Results conclude that no significant differences were found between the mean numbers of the collected pests throughout the two growing seasons at each ofEl-Qantara Shark and El-Arish.
The collected numbers of pest, it is clear that the two-spotted spider mites were the highest 7.1 individuals/inch2 , represented 50.4%, whereas aphids were the lowest 2.2 individuals/ inch2 , represented 15.6%. On other hand, the mean numbers of whitefly were 2.5 individuals/inch 2 , represented
17.7%, while thrips were 2.3 individuals/inch2 , represented 16.3%.

From the foregoing results, it could be concluded that the two-spotted spider mite occupied the first position in cantaloupe infestation followed by whitefly and thrips, while aphids appeared in the fourth position.
2. Predators associated with cantaloupe pests:

The surveyed predators were Stethorus gilvifrons (Coccinellidae: Coleoptera), Scolothrips longicornis (Thripidae: Thysanoptera), Orius spp (Anthocoridae: Hemiptera) and the predacious mite Phytoseiulus spp. and Amblysieus spp (Acari: Phytoseiidae)
The results concluded that no significant differences between predators

throughout the two growing seasons at each of El-Qantara Shark and El Arish.
