STUDY OF NM23 - Hl G N PROTEIN IMMUNOREACTIVITY IN LARYNGEAL CARCINOMA

SOBHY ABOU EL-FOTOUH EBRAHEM;

Abstract

The study comprised 40 cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcmoma 36 cases were males and 4 cases were females, the age ranged between 35-72 years, the study also included 20 cases of fibroepithelial vocal cord polyps, the patients were 17 males and 3 females, their ages ranged between 35-70 year. The study also included 21 metastatic lymph nodes.

The study investigate the immunoreactivity of nm23Hl gene product in laryngeal carcinoma and study the correlation of this immunoreactivity with clinicopathological parameters including, age sex stage of the tumour, grade of differentiation incidence of lymph node metastasis and the disease recurrence and/or distant metastasis, the study also investigate the immunoreactivity of nm23Hl gene product in the metastatic lymph nodes compared with their primary tumours.

Streptavidin-biotin immunohistochemistry with polyclonal antibody was employed to study the expression ofnm23Hl gene product in laryngeal squamous cell carcmoma (N=40), metastatic lymph nodes (N=21) and non neoplastic polyps (N = 20). The immunoractivity of nm23Hl gene product was assessed according to both pattern and intensity of immunostaining.
