Ahmed Samy Abdel-Sadek Dawood;

Abstract

Coronary artery bypass surgery has proven its efficacy in terms of improved patient survival and quality of life in term of pain-free survival. The general indications for coronary revascularization include improvement in survival, both overall survival as well as increase in angina free survival.
Sex is a basic human variable that influences health and illness across the lifespan. There are differences between the sexes in the prevalence and severity of a wide range of diseases and medical conditions. Men and women have different patterns of illness, life spans, metabolism, and they respond differently to therapies. There are sex differences in the susceptibility to diseases and responses to environmental stresses and drug treatments.
In the women CHD develop about 10 years later than men this may be due to protective mechanism of sex hormones.
Diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women is perhaps one of the greatest clinical dilemmas in medicine.

In this study, we found that regarding to preoperative data:
• The mean age for female patients was higher than male patient.
