Abstract


It is the fist time to do a malarial survey on wild birds in Qena Govemorate and in addition to House sparrows. During the present investigation, the following results could be recorded as follows:

(1)-Three new species were described :


a- Plasmodium (Giovannolaia) fa Leoni

b- Plasmodium (Giovannolaia) Owli

c- Plasmodium (Giovannolaia) gallinuli

(2)- One new subspecies suggested to be named:-

sp. nov. sp. nov. sp. nov.


Plasmodium (Haemamoeba) hexamerium passeri. n.s.sp

(3)- Five new hosts. and new observation that the examined birds were infected with one-or-more species of parasites. However, mixed infections were frequently met with.

The infected birds belong to six species:-

1- Falcon (Falco Nnunculus rupicolaeformis).

2- Little OWL (Athene nocturna).

3- Carrion crow (Corvus cm•one).

4- Pied-Kingfisher (Ceryl rudis).

5- Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus).

6- House sparrow (Passer domesticus niloticu,\).
