SLOW- RELEASE FERTILIZERS APPLICATION WITH MODERN IRRIGATION METHODS

AMAL HASSAN EL-GUIBALI HASSAN;

Abstract

Four field experiments were conducted at two locations in EI-Behera Governorate representing the new reclaimed soils during two years, the experimental areas. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of some slow release fertilizers and some traditional fast release fertilizers on growth, mineral content, yield and yield components of potato and broad bean and the residual effect on sorghum or corn under different modern irrigation methods.

The first location IS FAO's station, West Noubaria. Two drip irrigation systems were selected for this experiment, the first is sub-surface drip system using three different lateral types, leaky pipe (porous tubes), GR built-in drip line 4 Lph/0.5 and Bi wall type. The second system is surface drip system using GR and Bi-walllaterals only.

The first experiment was carried out with plantmg potato (cv Spunta) during two successive years 1993/J994. Two slow release compounds of (14 N:l2 P 14 K) and (15 N:l2 P:33 K) compared to the recommended doses of traditional release fertilizers were added .
