Solvent Extraction of Some Transition Metal Complexes With Some OrganiC Ligands Using Some Organic Solvents

Shadia Mahmoud Mohamed Sirry;

Abstract

The main purpose of the present work is to study the extraction of Cu2+, Zn 2 +, Co2 + and Ni2+ with thiazolylazo acetylacetone (TAA),o-hydroxyphenylazoacetylacetone (HP
AA)and o-hydroxyphenylazoethylacetoacetate (HPAEA) using various polar and nonpolar organic solvents. The study includes:
1- Investigation of the effect of pH, effect of shaking time,
effect of ionic strength, effect of metal ion and •ligand concentrations and the effect of repetition (successive) of
extraction on the extraction efficiency and distribution

ratio of metals (Cu2+, Zn 2 ••, Co + and Ni

+).

2- Investigation of the stoichiometric composition of the extr acted chelates applying molar ratio, continuous variation and slope ratio methods as well as the determination of stability constants and free energy values (,A,.0 G) of the
. complexes.
::l- Studying the stripping extraction (back extraction or recov
ery) of the metals from organic phase using different concentrations of HCI, HN03, l i2 S04 , (NH4)2 S04 , HCl-
1-lNO., HC1-I-1 2S04 and HNOrH2 S04 .
4- Investigation of the effect of these metals in presence of
