Urinary tract infection in patients with Chronic Liver diseases
Abeer Hamdy Mohammed EI-Shalakani;
Abstract
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is frequent among cirrhotic patients (32.2%). Patients with LC have deficient opsonic activity 'of serum and ascitic fluid due to deficiency in C3 and C4 levels.
Significant negative correlation was found between both C3 & C4 and prothrombin time. However, serum C3& C4 did not correlate with serum albumin or bilirubin. C3 was correlated with both ALT and AST while C4 was correlated with ALT only.
