Abstract


Pulmonary thrombo-embolism is a feared complication of deep venous thrombosis (DVT). The mortality rate in untreated cases is 25%–30%, whereas the mortality rate in treated cases decreases to 5%–8%. More than 90% of pulmonary emboli arise from deep veins
