Abstract

L
iver fibrosis is associated with the prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after treatment. The laboratory marker for liver fibrosis, the FIB-4 index, is reportedly correlated with the degree of liver fibrosis .Tumor recurrence after curative RFA therapy is common for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
As fibrosis contribute to the progression of HCC.We aimed to evaluate the predictive value of FIB-4 index on the recurrence and survival of HCC patients who underwent curative RFA.
We retrospectively reviewed the records of patients with HCC treated with RFA between 2010 and 2014 in Hepatoma Group in ASU. The median duration of follow up was 36 months (7–81 months). The patients underwent RFA to HCC with no eligibility or ability to do transplantation or resection i.e. Child A with single tumor not greater than 5 cm in the largest dimension.
The present study revealed that about 90% were HCV infection with 74% of the studied patients were male with a male to female ratio of 3.8:1 and 35.5% of patients were diabetic and usually asymptomatic during the early stages of disease and the right hypochondrial pain was the most presenting complaint in all patients.
