Abstract


Metabolic syndrome is increasingly prevalent syndrome worldwide. It is not a specific disease. It is a constellation of Metabolic derangements which predispose to cardiovascular diseasesuch as insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, proinflammatory and prothrombetic state. Worldwide prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome ranges from <10% to asmuch as 84%, depending on the region, urban or rural environment, composition (sex, age, race, and ethnicity) of the population studied.It is expected that one-quarter of the world's adult population has Metabolic Syndrome.
