nthisstudy20patientswithACLtearswereexaminedbyroutineMRIkneeprotocolwithoutcontrast,nospecificsequenceswereintroducedandsagittalobliqueviewwasusedforassessingtheACL.
TheresearchshowsthatMRIhasahighaccuracyfordetectingACLinjurieswith(84%)sensitivityand(100%)specificity.ThebestviewforidentifyingACListhesagittalobliqueview.Resultsofthecurrentstudyareconsistentwithpreviousbiggerresearches;thusthereissignificantconfirmationtoconcludethatMRIishighlyaccurateinrecognizingACLinjuries.
NowadaysMRIisfrequentlyusedbeforediagnosticarthroscopyinalmostalllocations,andisregardedanefficientscreeningmodalityinallpatientswithkneeinjuriesasitisnon-invasive,fastanddoesnotincludemorbidityaccompanyingarthroscopy.MRIresultsbeforearthroscopyassistinthetreatmentofACLinjuries,eventuallyimprovingpatients’outcome.
ThereforeitissuggestedthatpatientswithinadequateclinicalassessmentoftheACLinjuriesmustbereferredtoMRimagingtoguidetheneedforarthroscopicintervention.
