Relationship between Quality of Work Life and Organizational Commitment Nurses

Abstract


Introduction: quality of work life influences the performance and commitment of employees in various industries, including health care organizations. Quality of work life is essential to attract new employees and retain a workforce. This study aimed to investigat the relationship between quality of work life and organization commitment among nurses through: Assess quality of work life among nurses, measuring nurses’ organizational commitment level and examination the relationship between nurse’s quality of work life and their organization commitment. Subjects & Methods; Descriptive correlational design was used in carrying out this study was conducted El Demerdash Surgical hospital affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals. The study sample consisted of 141 nurses working in patients department. Tools; Self-administrated questionnaire sheet for nurses, quality of nursing work life and organizational commitment scale. Results: There was positive correlation between quality of work life dimensions of the studied nurses and their total organization commitment with highly statistically significant differences. Conclusion: Based on the study finding it was concluded that, 56.7% of the study subjects had negative agreement regarding total work of life. In addition, 56.0% of the study subjects had negative agreement regarding total commitment and the majority of the studied subjects had negative agreement regarding to home life dimension, work design dimension, work context design, work world design and they have negative agreement regarding to total work life. There was positive correlation between qualities of work life dimensions of the studied nurses in correlate to total organization commitment dimensions highly statistically significant differences. Recommendation: It is recommended continuing education in the form of workshops and seminars and training courses must be initiated to improve quality of work life of nurses.
