Spiral C.T. angiography in diagnosis of renal artery stenosis
Akram Salah ElDin Hassan Ali El Zanaty;
Abstract
Early detection of renovascular hypertension se.condary to renal artery stenosis is important to be diagnosed as it is a curable disease. Ideally, the least invasive and modality of highest accuracy should be used.
• . Spiral C.T. angiography is a promtsmg modality in the assessment of vascular abnormalities for providing information previously obtainable only through conventional arteriography. Additionally a single 3D aquisition with C.T. angiography enables visualization of the lesion from an innumerable number of viewing angles. Which are not achievable by conventional arteriography.
• The advantage of C.T. angiography over conventional arteriography include diminished patient morbidity, cost, and physician time requirement.
• Selective intravenously administered contrast enhancement is made possible with helical C.T. Rapid scarring allows imaging in an arterial, renal cortical, rena\ medullary or delayed collecting system phase.
