Abstract

The present research was concerned with studying the productivity of some canola varieties such as Serw 4 and Pactol which belong to Brassica napus under different planting dates as well as population density in desert land by using new systems of irrigation and fertigation. This study was carried out by designing 20 experiments in season 1999/2000 and 16 experiments in season 2000/2001 in the experimental desert station of El-Wadi El-Assiuty (25 km east Assiut city) which is belong to Faculty of Agriculture. The soil of study was sandy calcareous (93.3% sand). The irrigation water was saline (1184 ppm). Five planting dates were conducted through the first season, 1999/2000. The plantings were on 1_g Oct., 15 Oct., 1_g Nov., 15 Nov. and P1Dec. In the second season four plantings were carried out, i.e. on 15 Sept., 1_g Oct., 15 Oct. and every planting date contained four experiments in which two experiments were subjected to sprinkler irrigation system whereas the others to drip one. The discharge of irrigation water through each system of irrigation represented the consumptive use (CU). Each experiment during each irrigation system was received certain dose of macronutrients through irrigation water, i.e. fertigation. The levels ofmacronutrients studied were 45, 30 and 48 kg/fed. of N, P205 and K20, respectively which is called the recommended doses. The other level is below the recommended, i.e. 25, 15 and 25 kg/fed. for the corresponding nutrients. Each experiment during each rate of nutrients contained two variables, i.e. varieties and spacing within drill at 10 and 15 em. The variables studied were distributed randomly in four replications through each experiment according to the importance of each variable in a split-plot design. Therefore, the varieties were allowed in the main plots and spacing in the sub-plots. Then combined analysis among the studied experiments were carried out to manifest all the interactions involved which evaluated by
