Abstract
Autoimmune diseases are disorders caused by a malfunctioning immune system that attacks parts of the person's own body. The eye can be affected by many of the autoimmune diseases. Cicatricial pemphigoidis characterized by autoantibodies directed against the basement membrane causing progressive conjunctival cicatrization associated with secondary corneal neovascularization and scarring.
In Mooren's corneal ulcer, the cells of the immune system attack the cornea, causing the formation of an ulcer. Symptoms include redness of the eye, tearing of the cornea and photophobia. As the ulcer develops, it spreads to involve the entire cornea. Mooren’s corneal ulcer may leads to corneal perforation.
In Rheumatoid Arthritis approximately 25 percen
