Abstract


From the study several points can be concluded

• The guidelines menu set by MOSA for children is quite reasonable to

cover the, nutritional requirements of child between age 10 -18 years,

except for vitamin A , where the allowance should be increased .

• The tJes and amounts of food served among institutions were much
'
varied b ing better for male institutions than female , and were concern is

to be givn to the quality of diet rather than quantity .

• Food ihtake in almost all institutions were adequate with respect to

energy ahd protein , however , for micro nutrients vitamins and minerals ,
I' .
all instit.utions showed inadequate vitamin A in their diet , as well as

vitamin !31 and vitamin C . Dietary iron was found to be adequate in male institutidns than females .
• Nutritronal status assessment of the children using the anthropometric

measurements indicated that overweight and obesity more prevalent
I.
among girls than boys and it was much related to energy intake and lack
I
of physical activities .
