The aim of this study is to assess the effect of lead toxicity on the intracellular peroxide metabolizing enzymes ancl the level of •lipid peroxides in the erythrocyte membrane as well as its effect on erythrocyte membrane lipids and membrane bound enzyme (ca2++Mg2+) and (Na+;K+) ATPses.


Also the objective of this work to test whether iron and vitamin C has any protective or curative effect against moderately long term exposure to lead. This work was also an attempt to elucidate, from the biochemical point of view, how all of these changes in lipids and enzymes can participate in shortening of the erythrocyte life span as well as appearance or' anemia in lead exposed workers.
