Assessment of Tissue Perfusion In ICU Patient (Non- invasive Monitoring)
Eman Helmy Mohammed Mortagy;
Abstract
Tissue Perfusion is the delivery of oxygenated red blood cells to tissues and organs. Tissue perfusion is achieved by delivery of blood through the circulatory system which includes the heart, blood, and blood vessels. Hypoperfusion means inadequate oxygen delivery to the tissues and will stop working optimally (Cecconi et al., 2014).
Tissue perfusion is dependent on adequate blood pressure in the aorta. This pressure is determined by the product of two factors: cardiac output and peripheral (systemic) vascular resistance (Lifton et al., 2001).
Cardiovascular regulation ensures that blood flow changes occur at appropriate times in areas of the body that require it without significantly changing blood pressure and flow to the vital organs.(McArdle et al.,2010).
The blood flow to an organ depends on the pressure perfusing it (the mean arterial blood pressure) and the organ vascular resistance.
Flow = pressure/resistance
Organ blood flow= MAP/organ vascular resistance
Normally all organs of the systemic circulation are exposed to the same perfusion pressure.
