Abstract


Aminoglyosides are among the most widely used antibiotics in

, the world. They are preferred because they are effective, low cost, rarely produce allergic reaction. Nowadays are widely used due to resurgence of some of the diseases as tuberculosis, due to increased prevalence of AIDS. Although they are known to cause ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity, physicians continue to prescribe them.
Thi udy:;rs based on the novel hypothesis for the mechanism of aminoglycosides ototoxicity, based upon formation of an iron­ gentamicin complex, which produces free radicals that are ototoxic.
