Fetomaternal Complications in Pregnant Primigravid Adolescent Mothers

Abstract
T
he present study aimed at the evaluation of maternal and neonatal outcomes in primigravid teenagers compared to that of Adult primigravidas all at third trimester of pregnancy.
The study was designed as a prospective comparative study that was held in the emergency ward of Ain-Shams University Maternity Hospital, Abbasia, Cairo, Egypt during the period from June 2015 till August 2016.
Patients were divided into two groups according to their age. Group I, the teenager group (n=132) contains third trimesteric primigravidas aged between 14-19 years old. Group II, the Adult group (n=137) which contains third trimesteric primigravidas aged from 20- 20 years old.
All patients were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria set for the study. A specially designed data collection sheet was prepared to record patients clinical data, laboratory and clinical findings. All patients from both groups were selected to be free from any pre-existing medical disorders and special habits prior to their pregnancy.
Medical observation and evaluation of patients was done on admission, all through the peripartum period and prior to discharge from the hospital after delivery.
