Abstract

Corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete is the most common cause of premature deterioration of reinforced concrete structures. Of the many methods of corrosion protection possible fusion-bonded epoxy coating offers one of the best combinations of protection, ease of use, and economy. Epoxy-coated bars are used in nearly all types of structures where concrete is exposed to a corrosive environment. . A very important consideration in the use of epoxy-coated reinforcing bars is the effect of the coating on the bond between reinforcing bars and concrete.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the anchorage and bond characteristics of fusion bonded epoxy coated reinforcement (FBECR) and the flexural behavior of concrete beams reinforced by (FBECR) under static load.
