COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE USAGE OF DIFFERENT METHODS OF FARMYARD MANURE SPREADING UNDER EGYPTIAN CONDITIONS
EHAB ABO EL-AZIZ EL-SAIDY;
Abstract
Due to the importance of farmyard manure in improving the physical,chemical and biological properties of soil and it's effect on plant growth and crop yields, the current investigation was carried out at the farm of the Faculty of Agriculture,• Monufiya University to study the comparison between the different methods of spreading farmyard manure.
The studied traditional methods were using the donkey and the wooden cart. Two mechanical methods were used, also, in this investigation : an American manure spreader of 150 em width and an ordinary rotary tiller. The manure spreader is studied at three forward speeds: 2. 3 and 5km/h,and three beater rotating speeds 200,300 and 500 r.p.m. Meanwhile, the
rotary tiller was studied at different blade angles:
0,15,30,45,60,750and 900
at three forward speeds; 1.2,2' and
3km/h and three blade rotating speeds 540,700 and 1000 r•.p.m.
The
'
obtaine
d results can be summar£zed as follows:•
1- The best results of the traditional methods obtained from the wooden cart, where its performance rate is higher than the donkey with about 50% and its total costs of transporting and spreading the manure is less than the donkey with about
50 % .
2- As general mechanical methods gave better results than traditional methods.
