Abstract

7.1 Summary
This thesis presents the results of a research work to improve punching shear behavior of flat slabs using glass fiber. The main objective of this research was to evaluate using GFRP as a repair technique to improve punching shear behavior of flat RC slabs. The experimental program included twelve medium scale reinforced concrete slab-column connections. Two concrete grades were considered: Grade 35MPa and Grade 17MPa.In the analytical study, the specimens were modeled using (ANSYS) computer program based on finite element analysis system.

Based on the experimental results and the analytical results of the tested slabs and results of slabs collected from literature the following conclusions were drawn. Specimens were subjected to vertical increasing load some specimens were loaded to failure while the other was loaded to 50% and 80% of the ultimate load. These were then repaired using GFRP and reloaded to failure.
