Arteritis In Egypt and Hepatitis C Virus

Hisham Mahmoud EL Sharkawy;

Abstract

Arteritis IS a clinicopathological disease characterized by inflammation and necrosis of affected blood vessels. It is supposed to be due to autoimmune morbid response. In the current study we hypothetically expect that we can find a relationship between HCV and arteritis in Egypt. Our study was done on 51 patients and 50 control individuals were taken. We proved a definite statistical relationship between Arteritis in Egypt and hepatitis C virus by both PCR teclmique and ELISA test. We recommend that more efforts should be done in the next studies to clarify the mechanism by which the virus can induce autoimmune vascular problems.
