Abstract

hyroid surgery now days became one of the most popular endocrine surgeries, may be due to increase prevalence of thyroid diseases and increase tools of diagnosis by recent imaging and laboratory techniques. Thyroid gland is a highly vascular gland and thyroidectomy involves devascularization of frequent blood vessels. Conventional thyroidectomy involves thyroidectomy through collar neck incision using tie and knot. recent hemostatic devices used in thyroidectomy are the ligaSure, the harmonic scalpel and bipolar cautery. Thyroid gland physiology involve secretion of thyroid hormone that act peripherally through receptors in different organs and systems allover the body either stimulatory or inhibitory, and centrally by regulating it’s own action through pituitary gland.
