EFFECT OF A CLINICAL PATHWAY ONCARE OFNEONATES HAVING HYPERBILIRUBINEMIA
Hoda Ragab Mohamed;
Abstract
Clinical pathways are care plans developed collaboratively by physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, technicians, pharmacists, speech therapists, case managers, and other staff members involved in patient care. Nurses are instrumental in ensuring the successful use of clinical pathways and can best contribute by gaining a thorough understanding of why and how pathways are used (Smeltzer etal., 2009).
The present study aimed to assess the effect of a clinical pathway on care of neonates having hyperbilirubinemia through 1) assessing knowledge of multidisciplinary careteam regarding clinical pathway which include physicians and nurses; and 2) designing, implementing, and evaluating the clinical pathway on neonates having hyperbilirubinemia.
