Abstract
SUMMARY
T
his current randomized controlled trial was conducted in Ain Shams University maternity Hospital starting from January 2015 to January 2016 A total 244 patients were randomized in tow groups (1) screened and treated group (2) not screened group amsel’s score was used for diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis positive cases were treated with metronidazole single dose 2 gm just before embryo transfer in IVF cycles and then the results of IVF were compared in the two groups (biochemical pregnancy rate, clinical pregnancy rate, implantation rate, miscarriage rate, complications with the pregnancy.
The biochemical pregnancy rate was higher in screened group than not screened group which was 47.5% to 30.3% respectively with p-value was 0.006. Also increase in clinical pregnancy rate in screened group than not screened group which was 41% to 25-4% respectively with p-value was 0.010.
The implantation rate was higher in screened group than not screened group which was 23.36% to 14.75% respectively with p.value was 0.015. Also, live birth rat was higher in screened group than not screened group which was 38.5% to 23% respeetivly with p. value was 0.008.
The occurrence of PROM was higher in not screened group than screened group which was 5.74% to 0.800% respectively with P-value was 0.033.
Otherwise, there was no significant difference as regard of Age, BMI, type of infertility endometrial thickness, number of injected oocyte, E2/P at day of HCG injection, fertilization rate number of oocyte retrieval, number of good quality embryos NO of HMG, ampoules used, duration of induction in days as the P. value was 0.694, 0.486, 0.583, 0.962, 0.935, 0.763, 0.896, 0.630, 0.217, 0.926, 0.95 respectively.
