SOLID STATE NUCLEAR TRACK DETECTORS AND RPPLICRT IONS
T.AREK MOHAMMED EL-DESOUKY,HEGAZY;
Abstract
Solid state nuclear track detectors, SSNTD, are exceedingly used in the last few decades in various fields like dosimetry, nuclear science, health physics, cosmic rays and astrophysics. Understanding of track fromation needs be based on appropriate theories. Different models have been set to explain nuclear tracks in solids; some irreasonable like thermal explosion spike, atomic displacement and total energy loss models and others fitting reasonably experimental data such as ion explosion spike, secondary energy loss, restricted energy loss and primary and secondary damage models. The dimensions of formed tracks can be raised through chemical etching to be optic-microscopically measurable parameters which, in tum, have implicit data of the track-digging ions.
