Energy Efficient Resource Management for Cloud Computing Environment

Abstract
This dissertation demonstrates different techniques used for enhancing the cloud computing performance and efficiently improves the power usage. Migration policies have been applied on the virtual machines created in the servers of the cloud datacenter.
Chapter 1: It begins with an introduction to the cloud computing and its definition Then it explains the characteristics and requirements of the cloud. The chapter also represents the objective and the outline of the research.
Chapter 2: Explains the fundamental concepts of the cloud and its structure focusing on the view of cloud environment from the power usage perspective.
Chapter 3: The chapter represents different techniques for cloud datacenter host virtual machines migration policies. It explains in details the problems of high power and energy consumption of cloud datacenter and how they could be solved.
Chapter 4: This chapter proposes the design of the new virtual machines migration policies using intelligent techniques. These techniques are neural network, self-organized map (SOM) and k- mean clustering.
The proposed techniques were demonstrated with power datacenters and the output results were illustrated by using a simulator. Then comparing the proposed migration policies output results of a host with the output results of related work policies.
