Serum Leptin Concentration In Haemodialysis patient

Mohamed Amin Mohamed El- Essnawi;

Abstract

Leptin is a 16 kilo dalton protien that is encoded by the OB gene. It is secreted from fat cells, functions as a lipostate mechanism through modulation of satiety signals.

In humans, leptin circulates in the blood with about 50% in the free form and the remainder attached to binding proteins. It crosses the blood brain barrier by a saturable transport mechanism binds to its receptor in the hypothalamus and exerts its actions by restraining the synthesis and release of neuropeptide Y from hypothalamic nuclei and ultimately
.. causing anorexia stimulating thermogenesis and increasing

metabolism.
