AN OVERVIEW ON THE PATHOGENESIS OF GALLSTONES IN CHRONIC CALCULAR C HOLECYSTITIS.
MOHAMED WAEL MAHMOUD MOSTAFA;
Abstract
Gallstones are one of the commonest among biliary disoderso In about 85 percent of the cases of cholecystitis , inflammation of the gallbladder is associated with calculi 0
Pathogenesis of the gallstones is not completely understood and undoubtedly , several mechanisms are involved 0
Gallstones form as a result of solids settling out of solution, they are now classified according to their chemistry into cholesterol and pigment
Recent experimental studies, on prairie dogs , suggested that
gallbladder mucm and prostaglandins , are important in the pathophysiology of gallstones 0 Also, it is know that mucm secreted by the gallbladder and biliary duct epithelium , functions as a pronucleating agent in experimental gallstone disease 0
