Gallstones form as a result of solids settling out of solution, they are now classified according to their chemistry into cholesterol and pigment
Recent experimental studies, on prairie dogs , suggested that

gallbladder mucm and prostaglandins , are important in the pathophysiology of gallstones 0 Also, it is know that mucm secreted by the gallbladder and biliary duct epithelium , functions as a pronucleating agent in experimental gallstone disease 0
