LEFT VENTRICULAR DIASTOLIC • FUNCTION IN LIVER CIRRHOSIS

Abstract


80 male and female subjects divided as 19 controls and 61 patients .
The 61 patients were divided into four groups : The first group were those with no ascites .
The second group were those with mild grade of ascites . The third group were those with moderate grade of ascites . The forth group were those with tense grade of ascites .

* Personal history was taken to each subject .
- full history of the disease was taken .
- any investigations were done .
- Past history of any disease .

* laboratory investigations include C.B.C ( RBCs count , hemoglobin level ) - liver functions ALT (SGPT) , AST (SGOT)
prothrombin concentration., kidny functions (urea and
creatinine)

* Fasting ,2 H post prandil blood sugar .
* Resting ECG. Wos done.
* Abdominal ultra sonography to detect liver size , texture ,
portal vein diameter , splenic size and presence of ascites ana
it's degree

* Echocardiography was done to detect the left ventricular end diastolic volume , left atrial size , peak E , peak A , E IA ratio , Acceleration slope , Acceleration time Deceleration slope and Deceleration time.

* The result was :
- Increase the left ventricular end diastolic volume as we go
from group I to group 4
- Increase in left atrial size as we go from group I to group 4
