Correlation between ADHD Children and their Parents History of Substance Abuse

Abstract


Paternal substance abuse has serious consequences for their children, either by their effect on parenting, early childhood and adolescent development or prenatal effect that may cause genetic mutation or neurobiological changes. All this factors may play roles in presence of ADHD in children(Hedden et al., 2015;NACOA, 2016; Ornoy et al., 2016).
By a case control study designed to study association between paternal substance abuse and having children with ADHD and investigate types of substance associated more with each subtypes of ADHD in their children.
The study was hypothesized that "There is an association between ADHD children and their parents' history of substance abuse"
The Study was conducted In child psychiatry clinics at the Institute of Psychiatry of Ain Shams University andAl Mamoura governmental hospital for mental health and addiction, over nine month period ,among 50 patients who are diagnosed with ADHD (confirmed by Mini Kid
