STUDIES OF SOME INDUSTERAL WASTES AND THE POSSIBILITY OF APPLICATION IN LEATHER FATLIQUORING

El-SHAHAT HASSAN ABDEL-LATIFF;

Abstract

The present work affords a comprehensive contribution to the suitability of a local animal oil byproduct (wool wax) for leather processing
The thesis is accomplished along the following main parts

First Part:

Analysis of Local Wool Wax

This part deals with the investigation of the wool wax composition through chemical, physical and chromatographical studies.
-The chemical analysis include moisture, ash, iodine, acid,

saponification, unsaponifiable, ester, hydroxyl, and acetyl values, determinations
-Physical constants such as melting point, density and refractive

index have been detennined.

-The chromatographical study as GLC and GC I MS, besides the spectral analysis as MS and FT - IR, were also detected .

Second Part

(Sulphonation Wool Wax):-

In this part, sulphuric acid, chlorosulphonic acid and sodium bisulphite were used as representative sulphonating agents. Factors which affect the reaction products have been studied.
