PRODUCTION OF WHEAT AND ITS QUALITY IN NEWEL Y RECLAIMED LAND

ABU- EL ELA RAGAB ALKASAS;

Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out in two successive seasons (1977-1998 & 1998-1999) in a new reclaimed soil (83-93 %sand) under sprinkler irrigation system of three day intervals at EI-Ismailia Research Station to cultivate wheat (Sids 1) under different biofertilizer types (Cerealin, Nitro bin and Micro bin) at different rates of 0, Recommended dose (R), 2R, 3R, 4R and 5R each alone or in presence of 0, 40, 80, 120 and
160 Kg nitrogen /fed (Ammonium sulfate 20.6%).

These experiments were laid out in split, split plot randomized design. The treatments were ninety and represented in three replicates where the biofertilizer types occupied the main plots, while the randomized sub plots represent the biofertilizers rates and the randomized sub- subplots represent the utilized nitrogen levels. These treatments were designed to study their effects on wheat plant dry weight, nitrogen percentage, heading date, plant height, flag leaf area, number of spikes/m2, number of spikelets/spike, spike length, weight of grains/spike, number of grains/spike,
1000 grain weight, grain yield (ardab/feddan), straw yield (tOn/feddan),
harvest index, protein percentage, flour dry gluten percentage, wheat grain extraction percentage, dehydrogenase activity, nitrogenase activity and total bacteria count.
