PERFORMANCE OF GOATS FED HALOPHYTIC SHRUBS WITH ORGANIC WASTES SUPPLEMENTS IN SINAI

Abstract


Livestock production in Sinai depends. mainly on the natural vegetation as the principal feed resource. The palatable and good quality range specres are always deteriorated because over grazing. The unpalatable range species in South Sinai are dominant, widely distributed and evergreen all round year. Therefore, this study focused on three main objectives.
1. Processing of unpalatable range species through physical processing method.
2. The application of the best combination plants with organic wastes

as feed supplements for goats.

3. Evaluation of nutritional and productive performance of does fed on processed halophytic plants, in addition to two type of organic west as based brewer's grains, poultry litter with olive pulp, date seeds compared to conventional supplements.
The present study was carried out at Ras Sudr experimental research

station (Desert Research Center), about 60 km. South of El Shat area in Southern Sinai Governorate, and extended from March 2000 to April 2001. This study was divided into four parts.
