Of all patients now dyinc in the intensive care units, 50% to 60% die because of ;"ultiple organ dysfunction syndror:;e.
Tke hallnark of MODS is the developnent of

In children as vvell e..s in adults, MODS 9.as a high alung nortality and has been observed in a variety of
clinical situation but as only rarely been reported after cardiopulnonary bypass.
