Abstract


This study aimed at investigating the effect of using task-based learning approach on developing university student-teachers' performance in teaching the English language. A group of 203rdyear, faculty of education student-teachers were randomly selected from October 6 university as an experimentalgroup. These participants received training throughout a proposed program based on using task-based learning approach for developing teachingperformance. Pre-post observation sheets were designed to determine the effect of the approach used before and after carrying out the experiment. Results showed that,there is a statistically significant difference in the mean scores of the participants in the Pre-postadministrations of overall teaching performance in the observation sheet in favor of the post administration. Also results revealedthat there is a statistically significant difference in the mean scores of the participants in the pre and post administrations of each teaching performance in the observation sheet in favor of the post administration.It was concluded that the study provided evidence for the positive use of task based learningapproach on enhancing student teachers' performance in teaching EFL. FinallyFindings, recommendations and suggestions for further studies were also presented.
