SOME STUDIES ON ECTOPROTOZOAL DISEASES AMONG WILD AND CULTURED CATFISH ( CLARIAS LAZERA)

Abstract
In this study a total of 800 Clarias lazera were collected from different water sources and private culture farms in Dakahlia Province during different seasons allover the year 2000.
The clinical and postmortem examination of the investigated fish revealed the presence of some clinical abnormalities as slug ish swimming, signs of dullness and loss of balance. Some fish showed emaciation with loss of condition. Skin appeared paler or darker in color than the normal. Erosion, ulcers, blood or black spots were observed. Infested fish also showed surfacing, gasping and rapid shallow opercular movement. The gills were congested with excessive mucous secretion.
