CLINICAL EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF PLATELET RICH PLASMA WITH DEMINERALIZED FREEZE DRIED BONE ALLOGRAFT VERSUS DFDBA IN TREATMENT OF CLASS II FURCATIONS

Abstract

Periodontal disease is a continuous destructive process, once therapy has not been achieved. Successful periodontal therapy should be directed to achieve several goals such as controlling or eliminating the etiology of the disease process, restoring form and function of the periodontium and creating a favorable oral environment that allows and maintains periodontal health. Modem periodontical research focuses on the regenerative techniques rather than resective surgical operations for elimination of periodontal defects.
The a1m of the present study was to compare clinically and radiographically the results of the treatment of class II furcation defects using demineralised freeze dried bone allograft (DFDBA) with the results obtained by using DFDBA mixed with platelet rich plasma (PRP) m patients suffering from chronic periodontitis.
Prior to the presurgical measures, all subjects received supragingival and subgingival scaling and root planning, and oral hygiene instructions. MWF was performed to all patients at both defects; where one of these defects received DFDBA/PRP while the other one received
DFDBA alone.
