Short stature is considered when the child's height falls below 3rd percentile for his age. Zinc deficiency

is considered when plasma zinc levels are below 70


pg/ 100 mi. And functional disorders are mostly found in children having hair zinc content below 70 ppm.

The final body length is dependent on the nutritional status as well as hormonal regulation. This work aimed at the determination of zinc levels in children with short stature and to correlate these levels with serum levels of insuline-like growth factor-1.

The study was carried out on 40 cases with short statures, they were divided into 2 groups according to age, group I included 20 cases their age ranged from 6-8 years, group III included 20 cases. their age ranged from 12-16 years. Two control groups with normal growth each consists of
10 cases of matched age and sex for both group I& III.
