Abstract

The use of tissue adhesives as an alternative to or replacement for sutures in wound closure has long been area of interest.

One of these tissue adhesive is cyanoacrylate. The present study dealt with clinical use of Iso-amyl-2-cyanoacrylate as a substitute to suturing in closure of flaps after removal of impacted mandibular third molar. The study conducted clinical and experimental groups.

The clinical study dealt with 20 patients divided into two groups; in 10 patients of the study group, the incision lines were closed by using tissue adhesive Amcrylate.

The flaps in the other I 0 patients of the control group were reflected and sutured by (3/0) black silk sutures.

Clinical comparison was made on the first, second, third, seventh, fourteenth and twenty-first post-operative days.
