EFFECT OF IRRIGATION AND FERTILIZATIO ON MATRICARIA CHAMOMILLA, L. GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY IN SANDY SOIL

Abstract


The present study was conducted to invistigate the effect of the irrigation and fertilization treatments (NPK and poultry manure at different levels) on the vegetative growth, inflorescences yield, volatile oil yield and the chemibal composition of Matricaria chamomilla L.

The field work was carried out at the Experimental Farm of Horticultural Research Station in El-Kassaseen, Ismailla , Governorate, Egypt, during the two successive seasons of
1997 - 1998 and 1998 - 1999.

. Seeds were sown in the nursery on October liD; in the fwo seasons of 1997 and 1998. Uniform seedlings of about lOcm . height were transplanted on November , 15th in sandy soil using drip irrigation system. The experimental unit area was
10.8m2 . Every unit contained three dripper lines with 6m
length . The distance between lines was 60 em and 30 em betwen seedlings, Every experimental unit contained 60 plants ( about 22222 plants per feddan).
