Rehab Farouk Mohammad Elweza;

Abstract

This dissertation discusses violence against the Arabs and Muslims in America following 9/11 attacks. It concentrates on the reasons and results of the mutual violence between the Eastern and the Western nations especially the United States of America. Three plays are in focus in this dissertation; The Black Eyed by Betty Shamieh, The Domestic Crusaders by Wajahat Ali and Back of the Throat by Yussef El Guindi. The characters of the three plays represent most of the targeted Arabs and Muslims. They reflect their dilemmas in the American society with severe humanness and simplicity. The consequences of the violence of the Americans against them after 9/11 are very critical. The dissertation also discusses trauma as a main consequence of the violence of 9/11. It analyzes the post traumatic stress disorders that most of the characters suffer from due to violence. The Post colonial feminist challenge to the Western feminist distortion to the image of Eastern women is also spotlighted throughout the dissertation.

Key Words: Violence, Post Colonial Feminism, PTSD, 9/11, Arab and Muslim Americans.
