A Comparative study of intrathecal bupivacaine and ropivacaine in surgery of the lower half of the body

Abstract


This study was carried out on forty adult patients of both sexes who were scheduled for elective surgeries in the lower half of the body under spinal anaesthesia. They were divided into two equal groups twenty patients in each. Half a liter of normal saline was given to every patient as a preload before the start of the procedure. Group I received intrathecal heavy bupivacaine 0.5% in a dose of 15mg. Group II received intrathecal heavy ropivacaine 0.75% in a dose of22.5mg.
